Darien Congregational Church Organ Concert
It took three
years to plan for and install the new J.W. Walker tracker pipe
organ in the Meetinghouse of the First Congregational Church of
Darien. The church does not
Expect to repeat this process for at least 150 years. The dedicatory concert
took place on April 13.
This program
includes segments of the dedicatory concert with Walden Moore,
organist and choirmaster at Trinity Church, New Haven, performing
on the instrument. In addition, there are conversations with Moore,
who was the organist consultant for the church's project; Andrew
Pennells of J.W. Walker and Sons Ltd. Of England, the builder of
the pipe organ; Neil Hauck, the architect who redesigned the chancel
area to accommodate the organ, and David Wilson, who supervised
the voicing of the instrument.
